ORIGINAL STRONG BEER FESTIVAL

STRONG BEER FESTIVAL

During the Lenten season, according to an old tradition, the Paulaner Nockherberg will open its doors again to all strong beer fans: Three weeks of celebration are spent in the big festival hall. The next festival will take place from March 13th until April 5th, 2020.

Munich celebrates its “fifth” season – the strong beer season – due to a trick of the Paulaner monks at the beginning of the 17th century. During the Lenten season between Ash Wednesday and Easter the monks were not allowed to eat during daytime. To satisfy their hunger, the monks brewed their extra strong and high-calorie fasting beer called Salvator, according to the slogan “Liquida non frangunt ieunum” (liquid does not break fasting).

Come to the original Strong Beer Festival in the Paulaner Nockherberg to taste the Paulaner Salvator (strong beer) and experience an authentic Oktoberfest atmosphere with the tremendous Oktoberfest band “The Kirchdorfer”.
